EUREKA — November 2, 2026. The City of Eureka is contacting property owners as it updates its 2027–2035 Housing Element, a state-required plan identifying capacity to accommodate 1,740 additional homes.
Why owners may receive letters
Eureka’s Development Services Department is collecting expressions of interest from owners of potential housing sites. Inclusion in a planning inventory is not the same as property rezoning, an approved construction permit or a requirement that an owner build.
How the city is collecting information
Some owners will receive correspondence, while others can ask staff whether their property might qualify. The city has an online interest form and provides a way to request materials by mail.
Where to learn more
Senior Planner Kelsey Fletterick is the city contact at 707-441-4113 and kfletterick@eurekaca.gov. Property owners should read the official Housing Element Update and avoid treating an inquiry as a binding development agreement.
