EUREKA — November 2, 2026. Eureka’s recycling and solid-waste program requires residential, multifamily and commercial properties to use curbside collection services through the city’s contracted hauler, Recology Humboldt County.
Weekly service structure
Garbage pickup is required weekly, and the city lists a minimum 20-gallon service level per dwelling. Recycling collection is also weekly. Residential garbage subscribers receive a 96-gallon mixed-recycling cart without a separate recycling-cart charge.
Green waste differs
The city lists green-waste collection as a voluntary additional service. Plant trimmings, leaves and branches may be suitable for that program, while hazardous chemicals and electronic waste require other disposal routes.
Things that must stay out of trash
Eureka prohibits batteries, tires, e-waste and household hazardous waste in ordinary garbage. Customers should keep lids closed and contact Recology about extra service rather than overfill a cart.
