EUREKA, Humboldt County — November 4, 2026. Mayor Kim Bergel led a three-candidate race in Humboldt County’s final election-night reporting batch, while a City Council contest in Ward 3 remained close. Final election-night count does not mean final certified results; mail and other eligible ballots still need to be processed.
Three candidates for mayor
Redheaded Blackbelt’s report on the final overnight county release shows Bergel with 2,371 votes (65.24%), Anil Dwivedi with 704 (19.37%) and Casey Dresser with 559 (15.38%). The report was published at 12:53 a.m. Pacific on November 4 and covers the last batch issued during the election night.
Ward 3: just 40 votes apart
G. Mario Fernandez had 470 votes (52.22%) against Janelle Jackson’s 430 (47.78%) in Ward 3. In Ward 1, Victor E. Garcia Jr. had 309 votes, followed by Jason McCutcheon with 117 and Audra Sisson with 85. Ward 5’s Jeff Leonard had 349 votes to Kathy Herrera’s 235. Each ward is a separate district election.
What has not been counted
Humboldt’s overnight report covered 21,509 ballots countywide, equivalent to 24.86% of registered voters at that point. That is not the final turnout or the share of all ballots eventually to be counted. The Humboldt County Office of Elections will publish later updates as votes are checked.
All figures are unofficial, sourced to the county’s last election-night batch and the local newsroom’s count analysis. This report does not declare winners.
